Fall Concert ONLINE! Oct. 24th

The Okanogan Valley Orchestra and Chorus is presenting its first virtual concert for the season titled "Music is Vital" on October 24th. The orchestra, directed by Matt Brown, will be performing "Moon River," composed by the legendary film composer Henry Mancini for the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tifanny's, arranged by Marty Gold. The chorus, directed by Derek Pulsifer, will be performing "The Storm is Passing Over," a gospel song written by Charles Albert Tindley, arranged by Barbara W. Baker. Many small ensembles will be included in the performance as well. Steve Cockfield will perform "All of Me" as performed by John Legend and including harp, oboe, and vocals. Calvin Gorman will be performing a trombone quartet of "Canon in D" by Johann Pachelbel. Many members of the orchestra will be performing the big band classic "In the Mood," made famous by Glenn Miller, written by Joe Garland, and arranged by Michael Sweeney. BrassWorks is a community brass band that will be performing Gordon Snapp's arrangement of "Okie from Okanogan," written by Gordon Snapp and John Heyrend, and "Midnight in Moscow," arranged and performed Kenny Ball and His Jazzmen based on a Soloviev-Sedoy/Matusovsky song.
