Family Concert Saturday!

Updated: Feb 21, 2021

Dear Membership,

The Okanogan Valley Orchestra and Chorus returns with its third virtual concert for the season, “Music is Vital,” on February 20th. The orchestra, directed by Matt Brown, will be performing “Themes from The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” by Paul Dukas, arranged by Jim Higgins, and well-known for its use in Disney’s Fantasia. The orchestra will also be performing Chuck Sayre’s arrangement of Harold Arlen’s “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz. The chorus, directed by Derek Pulsifer, will be performing Roger Emerson’s arrangement of “Lava,” by James Ford Murphy, from Pixar’s animated short of the same name. The chorus will also be performing Randy Newman’s “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” arranged by Mac Huff, from Disney’s Toy Story. Many small ensembles will be included in the performance as well, including a jazz band arrangement of “Beyond the Sea,” arranged by Roger Holmes and made famous by Bobby Darin’s rendition in 1959.

This virtual concert will be released on February 20th by 3pm on the “Okanogan Valley Orchestra and Chorus OVOC” YouTube channel below:
