Mother's Day Musical Matinee!

Updated: May 1, 2022

Okanogan Valley Orchestra and Chorus will present a Mother’s Day Musical Matinee on Sunday, May 8, at 3 p.m. at the Omak Performing Arts Center, featuring a “bouquet of musical variety” from a wide range of local artists.

The show will feature fun selections from Musicals and Americana, pulling from many genres. Among the acts will be groups BrassWorks, Make Up Sax, Citizens and the Sagebrush Gypsies performing some classic and some original pieces.

Taking to the rafters, Tianna Alley will perform an aerial act, as well as sing a classic show tune. Robert Stafford and Kori Thornton will perform an original duet written for a local mom. Karla Walker and Sheila Corson will perform a duet from the musical “Wicked.” Karen Harris, Sandy Vaughn and Linda Colvin will perform as a trio. Kathleen Christensen will play piano. Liberty Linklater will also perform a song.

In non-COVID years, OVOC traditionally held a musical performance that featured a matinee on Mother’s Day, but with the final cancellation of Mamma Mia! this year, the board decided to hold a special event.

“We hope families gather together and come to the PAC this Mother’s Day, taking the time to recognize the special people in their lives,” said Lynn Hoover, OVOC board president.

Tickets are $10 each for adults, free for those 15 and younger. Doors open by 2:30 p.m. Concessions will also be served at intermission. Season tickets or Mamma Mia! tickets will also be accepted at the show.

OVOC is looking forward to a return to a “normal” season in 2022-2023. Updates on upcoming events will be posted on its website, www.ovocmusic.org, and on their Facebook and Instagram pages.
