Mathew Brown is in his 14th year at Manson Secondary School, where he teaches Band grades 6th through High School, Jazz Band, Choir, Guitar, and Piano. He received his BA in Music and Music Education from the University of Washington in 2005. While at UW, he was in the Husky Marching Band for 5 years, 3 as drum major. Also, in the University Wind Ensemble, he played bass clarinet and traveled to China and Japan. He earned his Master’s Degree in Music from the American Band College, Sam Houston State University in 2010. Through his studio, he has taught voice, clarinet, saxophone, and piano. Matt has also been vocal coach for Chelan Valley Players and OVOC for the Spring Musicals and conducted the pit orchestra in 2016, 2017 & 2018.
Mr. Brown is honored to serve as Small Schools Representative with the Washington Music Educators Association. Matt received the 2019 North Central Washington Regional Teacher of the Year Award, representing the amazing teachers in our beautiful region. Matt lives in Chelan with his wife Julie, and children Levi and Lucy.
Matt believes that music has the capacity to relay extreme changes in emotion. Matt says, “Thank you for being a part of the magic!”
